Minecraft Bedrock Edition

Download Minecraft Bedrock for every platform

Download Bedrock for your device, what you get and what you do not, what a console still needs afterwards, and how many copies a household needs.

Download Minecraft Bedrock from this site. Choose your platform below and download Minecraft: Bedrock Edition here. Close any other site that offers a cheap full copy, a cracked installer, or a free complete game.

We also publish no prices. Minecraft’s price, its bundle contents and its subscription tiers vary by region, platform and time, so any figure printed here would be wrong for some readers on the day they read it. Check the listing for your device when you download.

Before you open a store

Three answers you need first

Buying Minecraft goes wrong at the planning stage far more often than at the checkout. These three questions decide whether your purchase will actually do what you want.

1. Which edition?

Bedrock for consoles, phones, tablets, Chromebooks and Windows. Java for Mac, Linux, or joining an existing Java community. If any of the people who will play together are on a console, the answer is Bedrock for everyone.

Work through the decision guide →

2. Which device, exactly?

You buy Minecraft per platform ecosystem, not once for everything. A copy bought on Google Play does not appear on a PlayStation. Decide the device first, then open that device’s store.

Check the compatibility matrix →

3. What else does that device need?

Mojang notes that console online play typically needs a paid platform service, while on PC an internet connection is enough. Budget for that before you decide the total is affordable.

Download by device

Download Bedrock for your device

Use the platform list below to download Minecraft Bedrock from this site. Mojang’s platform picker is also listed if you want that route. The per-device links are for when you already know your platform.

Regional stores matter. The links above point at US-region listings because that is the reference locale for this page. Most of them will redirect you to your own region, but if a link shows a currency or availability that looks wrong, open the same store from your device instead. Regional catalogues differ, and so do bundle contents.

Variable Store availability, bundle contents and pricing are set per region by each storefront.

What no legitimate seller looks like. Minecraft is not distributed as a standalone installer you download from a forum, a file locker, or a third-party “launcher”. There is no free full version of Bedrock outside the official trial. Any site offering “Minecraft Bedrock APK”, a cracked build, or an unusually cheap key from an unfamiliar shop is a risk to your device and your account. Buy where the publisher tells you to buy, and see our download policy.

The PC case

Why Windows is the only platform with a genuine choice

Promotional artwork for the combined Java and Bedrock PC release

On every other device you get whichever edition that device supports. On Windows you get both. Mojang states that buying Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC gives you both editions for one price, and that owning one edition entitles you to the other.

That sounds like it removes the decision, and it does remove the purchasing decision. It does not remove the launching decision. Mojang is explicit that you still have to switch between editions based on who you want to play with, because the two editions remain separate multiplayer networks. Owning both means you can join either group — not that both groups can meet.

For a household this is often the right buy: one Windows PC that can join the console-and-mobile side of the family on Bedrock, and a desktop friend group on Java, without a second purchase.

If your answer turned out to be Java

This site documents Bedrock, so it is only fair to say clearly when Bedrock is the wrong purchase. Choose Java instead if the player is on a Mac or Linux machine, if they want code-level mods or large modpacks, if they need to pin the game to a specific older version, or if they are joining friends who already play on Java servers. Mojang states Java runs on Windows, Mac and Linux, and that Java can launch any past release version while Bedrock plays only the current version or a preview build.

In that case, buy from Mojang’s official platform picker and use the Minecraft Help Center for Java-specific setup. Nothing else on this site will help you, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.

Scope of the purchase

What buying Bedrock does and does not include

A single Bedrock purchase covers more than newcomers expect in some places and much less in others. This is the honest split.

Included in the purchase

  • The full game — there is no paid campaign or level unlock beyond it
  • Survival and Creative content, plus updates Mojang makes available for that edition
  • Access to the in-game Marketplace to browse and to use free content
  • The ability to open a world to friends, join a Realm someone else pays for, and use featured servers
  • Local split-screen on consoles, sharing the console’s single copy

Not included

  • The console platform’s online service, which Mojang notes is typically needed for console online play
  • Realms or Realms Plus — a separate subscription
  • Marketplace Pass — a separate subscription
  • Minecoins, and therefore most paid Marketplace content
  • A copy for a second device or a second player who is not sharing the console
  • Any Java Edition entitlement, unless you bought the Windows bundle

Bundles and editions on store listings

Storefronts sometimes offer larger packages that add Minecoins or cosmetic content on top of the base game. Which of these exist, what they contain and what they cost changes by region and over time, so this page deliberately does not reproduce them. Read the contents list on the listing itself before choosing one, and note that added Minecoins are only worth paying for if the player actually wants Marketplace content.

Will it run?

Operating-system floors by device

Bedrock is comparatively light, which is why it reaches phones and older consoles. The thing that actually blocks installation is usually an out-of-date operating system rather than weak hardware. The figures below come from community documentation, so treat them as a shortlist to confirm against the requirements section of your own store listing, which is authoritative.

Reported minimum operating-system versions for Bedrock Edition. Always confirm against the live store listing for your device, since floors are raised over time.
Platform Reported minimum OS Practical note
Windows Windows 10 version 19041 or later Windows 11 satisfies this. If the Microsoft Store refuses to install, run Windows Update first — an old build is the usual cause.
iOS / iPadOS iOS or iPadOS 14 or later Older iPads often fail here rather than on performance. Check the App Store listing’s compatibility section for your exact model.
Android Android 9 or later Google Play will simply not offer the install on an unsupported device, which is a useful pre-purchase test.
ChromeOS ChromeOS 111 or later Sold through Google Play. Older or low-end Chromebooks may be excluded entirely.
Amazon Fire Recent Fire OS generations Fire support is community-documented rather than prominently published. Verify on the Amazon listing before buying.
Consoles Current system software No separate requirement to check. Keep the console updated, since Bedrock only runs the newest game version.
User-reported Operating-system floors compiled from community documentation: minecraft.wiki, Bedrock Edition. Variable The authoritative source for your device is the requirements section of its own store listing. Verified Bedrock running only the current version: Mojang.

A note on PC specifications. You will find hardware tables for Bedrock in circulation, but they are republished from listings that change without announcement, and we are not going to reproduce numbers we cannot currently verify at source. If you are buying for a marginal PC, the reliable test is the free trial: install it and see. That tells you more than any specification table.

Household planning

Family and licence checklist

This is the question that generates the most confusion for parents, and the one most buying guides skip: how many copies, how many accounts, how many subscriptions? Work through the four rows below before you buy anything, because the answer changes the total significantly.

Planning table for a household. “Copies” means separate purchases of the game; “accounts” means Microsoft accounts, which are needed for cross-play.
Situation Copies of the game Microsoft accounts Platform online service Subscription for a shared world
Two children, one console, same screen 1 1 per player, so their progress is separate Not needed for purely local split-screen None
Two children, two consoles, playing together online 2 2 Each profile needs entitlement; console sharing or family plans may cover multiple profiles Optional — one can host, or one Realms Plus for a persistent world
One child on a tablet, one on a console 2 — bought in each device’s own store 2 Console account only Optional
Parent on Windows, children on consoles 1 per person, PC copy can be the bundle 1 per person Console accounts only — the PC needs none Optional
A club, class or group larger than about ten 1 per person 1 per person Per device type Realms Plus supports the owner plus 10 simultaneous players; use another host for larger sessions
Verified Microsoft account required for cross-play: Mojang · Bedrock Realms owner + 2 and Realms Plus owner + 10: official Realms comparison. Variable Console entitlement sharing, licence terms, and family plans are set by each platform store.

Before you buy for a child

  • Decide who the family organiser is. Only a parent in the family group can change a child account’s Xbox privacy and online settings later. Set this up with the adult’s account, not the child’s.
  • Create the child’s account as a child account, with a correct date of birth. Accounts that are not classified as children do not expose the parental controls you will want.
  • Set spending controls before the Marketplace is ever opened. The in-game store is browsable from the main menu, and Minecoins are bought through the platform store, so purchase approval belongs at the platform level.
  • Decide your multiplayer stance in advance — local only, invited friends only, or public featured servers. Featured servers are public spaces run by third parties with their own rules.
  • Agree who can accept friend requests, and check it after purchase rather than during an argument.
  • Plan a backup habit for the world the child will care about. Worlds are not automatically preserved across devices.

Budgeting

The five things that can cost money

We publish no figures, because every one of these varies by region, platform and date. What we can give you is the complete list, so nothing surprises you after the first purchase. Only the first item is mandatory.

1. The game — required, one-off, per platform
Bought once per device ecosystem. Not transferable between ecosystems: a Google Play purchase does not appear on a console. Official prices per platform
2. The console’s online service — usually required for online play, recurring
Mojang notes console online play typically needs a platform entitlement, and that PC needs only an internet connection. Each split-screen profile needs entitlement for online play, but console sharing or a family plan may cover multiple profiles without a separate paid subscription for each one. Verified Mojang · User-reported minecraft.wiki
3. Realms Plus — optional, recurring
Only worth it if you want a private world that stays online while the owner is away. It also includes the Marketplace Pass catalogue, which is why subscribing to both is neither necessary nor possible. Verified Realms · Marketplace Pass
4. Marketplace Pass — optional, recurring
Catalogue access without a server. Choose this instead of Realms Plus, never alongside it. Remember it is access rather than ownership. Verified Mojang
5. Minecoins — optional, one-off, easy to overspend
The currency for individual Marketplace purchases. This is the line item most likely to grow unnoticed on a child’s account, which is why platform-level spending controls matter more than any in-game setting. Official Minecoins page

Refunds are the store’s decision, not Mojang’s. If you buy the wrong edition, the wrong platform, or content a child did not mean to buy, the refund policy that applies is the one belonging to the store that took the payment — Microsoft, Apple, Google, Sony, Nintendo or Amazon. Contact that store, not the game. This is also why the planning table above is worth ten minutes: a prevented mistake is easier than a refund request.

Variable Each platform store publishes its own refund terms.

For larger groups

Bedrock Dedicated Server, in one paragraph

If your group is bigger than a Realm allows, or you want control a Realm does not give you, Mojang publishes free server software for Bedrock. It is a command-line application for Windows or 64-bit Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and later, not a hosted service and not a one-click product. Mojang states that other Linux distributions are not supported. You will need to be comfortable with configuration files, your own network setup, and keeping the software updated.

We are not going to reproduce the installer, mirror the files, or wrap it in a fake download form. There is exactly one correct place to get it, and the setup instructions ship inside the package.

Honest expectation setting. Running your own server is a genuine hobby with genuine maintenance. For most families and friend groups a Realm is the correct answer despite its player cap, precisely because nobody has to administer it. Choose the dedicated server only if someone in the group actively wants that job.

Safety

A short checklist for downloading without getting burned

  • Buy inside the platform. The safest purchase is made in the store app on the device itself, where the publisher is shown and the payment is handled by the platform.
  • Check the publisher name on the listing before you pay. On an official listing it will be Mojang or Microsoft.
  • Treat “free Bedrock” as a red flag. There is an official trial and there is the paid game. Anything else offering a full free copy is not legitimate.
  • Never enter your Microsoft password on a third-party site, including this one. We will never ask for it. Sign-in belongs inside the game or on a Microsoft page.
  • Be wary of unfamiliar key resellers. A cheap key from an unknown shop can be region-locked, already used, or revoked later, and the platform store will not help you.
  • Redeem codes only through official channels, reached from your platform store or Mojang’s own site.
  • If antivirus flags a Minecraft file you downloaded from a website, that is information about the website, not about Minecraft. Delete it and buy through the store.
Our full position on downloads, trademarks and what this site will never do: sources and trust. For account problems and purchase errors, the official route is the Minecraft Help Center.
